Blogging is supposed to be fun. Some approach it with a desire to share their message, some to teach, some do it for people to experience a good read. But when you’re in business, you have to make sure you’re operating like a business.
You need to know how to convert your readers into email subscribers.
I’ll tell you why this is important in a minute.
Most bloggers, when starting out, know the sole reason for starting a blog in the first place. And that is to make money.
Well, some bloggers take the direct approach to monetization with Google Adsense’s display Ads.
If you don’t know what display Ads means, then this is what it is: You are signing up with Google Adsense program and basically allowing Google to display a few advertisements on your website so you can make money when you get some traffic to it.
Now when you have articles and you have Google Ads on your blog, you are only thinking about making money from Google Ads.
Doing that would mean, people would come to your blog, read what they want and leave.
So here’s what most beginner bloggers don’t know or completely miss out on, a potential customer.
They fail to capture the reader’s email address so that they can contact them later and make money.
In this blog post, I’ll show you how to actually convert your readers into email subscribers.

What Happens When You Just Don't Collect A Reader's Email Address.
Imagine you are a food blogger and you wrote an article on “Best baking recipes”.
You wrote it so beautifully, added pictures and shared it with the world on social media, on twitter, on Instagram, on Pinterest, etc.
More and more people discovered it and now they came over to your blog for what they wanted, and you gave it to them. But if you would have just offered them a free incentive like a “free-baking secrets guide”, you would have not only collected their email address but also had a chance to convert them into a subscriber.
Once they are your reader, you now have the opportunity to email them helpful stuff but also do promotional stuff where you now have the opportunity to sell them something.
You can sell your own cookbooks, your recipes, etc.
Now if you’re a blogger in any other niche, the same concept applies.
Think about what you can offer to your readers and customers to get them to subscribe to your email list. Once you do that make sure you offer that as an incentive on your blog post.
You can read how to do them as you scroll down further.
Here’s what failing to do that will result in:
– More traffic, no email leads.
– More traffic, less income.
– Just another blog, that doesn’t operate like a business.
You will miss out on learning the entire internet marketing business model if you just write, write and write.
The most valuable thing to a business is it’s customer. And in an online business setting, it’s a customer’s contact information (The email address, the social media following, etc). It’s mostly the email address because once they allow you to contact them via email, you can personally email them whenever you want.
People have even made buying decisions over email on buying Tesla and what not. So email is the biggest money maker in any online business.
Potential of Collecting A Reader's Email Address.
Email has been around for the beginning of time. Every business, every person nowadays communicates important matters over email.
That’s why the concept of email came into being.
Now since we are growing a blog, you will begin to attract more and more people and grow an email list.
As you begin to grow an email list, you won’t be able to send bulk emails after a certain limit (if you’re using Gmail or Yahoo mail).
You can’t be using any Gmail, Yahoo Mail or any other email service.
You have to use a special email service provider that will help you send bulk emails to your subscribers.
In the Internet Marketing World, it’s called “Email Autoresponders.”
With the help of an Email Autoresponder, you can send out bulk emails to your email list, you can also pre-write an email and schedule it to go out in a particular time.
Likewise, you can also write a bunch of emails (like a series of emails) and schedule it to go out when someone subscribes. That’s the power of email autoresponder, that it works on automation.
Now, that your email sending is taken care of, we need to understand the potential of a customer.
Every email lead is worth at least $1-$10 per month, meaning whenever you pitch a product or service, a certain percent of them will buy.
Imagine you pitched your product worth $500 and you had an email list of 1000 people. About 30 of them buy, now you made 30 x $500 = $15,000.
Now when you divide $15,000/1000 = $ 15. Now your lead is worth $15 on average, but usually it’s pretty low like a $1.48 something.
The above number is just an example to help you understand the potential of a lead.
Basically, to calculate the potential of a lead, you need to divide total revenue by total number of leads.
Lead Value = Total Revenue/Total No. of Leads.
So every time your lead value may increase/decrease as your list grows.
So you should expect to make money off of your list down the line to keep your business afloat.
Special Offer For You.
In order to convert email readers into subscribers you need a freebie that’s of value to your reader, a form that captures the lead information, and an autoresponder that delivers that freebie.
You’ll learn what a freebie actually is later in the steps below.
But you need an Email Autoresponder. I’ve got a great deal for you.
It’s the same Email Autoresponder I’m using in my business.
How To Actually Convert Your Readers Into Subscribers. ( 5 Action Step Process)
If you really want to convert a reader into an subscriber then you need to follow this process which will help you so.
Step 1 - Decide What's Your Freebie.
Before we decide what’s our freebie, you need to know what a freebie is.
A freebie is a an incentive that you’re offering for free to your readers to convert them into subscribers (i.e, join your email list).
A freebie can be:
– A free checklist.
– A free guide.
– A free workbook.
– A free printable.
– A free calendar.
Just think about what you can offer that would be valuable to your reader that supplements what you’ve blogged about or is related to your business.
Now you know what a freebie is, so we’ll have to create it.
Here’s an example.
Step 2 - Create Your Freebie.
In order to create a freebie you can use the following tools:
– Google Docs.
– Your Microsoft Word (Windows) or Pages (Apple).
– A Graphic design platform called Canva.
– If you’re offering an excel sheet, use Google Sheets.
Now in order to create a freebie, just open Google Docs and create it.
Give your readers some more additional value than you gave at the blog post.
This should entice them to give you them email address in exchange for that freebie.

Here’s what I mean when you’re creating the freebie on Google Docs or Canva.
Step 3 - Connect Your Autoresponder.
Our next step is to open your email autoresponder and create that opt-in form.
In your opt-in form you are collecting their name and email address.
Therefore you need to choose an opt-in form for your blog.
In GetResponse you have many form designs.
You choose the one you like and customize it to your needs.
Go to Create > Create form.
You’ll be taken to the following page.
Next you need to choose the opt-in form you need to create. I’ve used the List Builder Wizard, and have chosen Form Downloads and Wider Forms on the left pane to choose my form style.
I’ve chosen the E-Business Tips Form.
Now you can edit this form and customize it to your needs.
Under Settings, you can rename the form to the freebie name.
Then you create that opt-in form freebie delivery.
So you need to create a new list inside GetResponse. Then create an auto-responder sequence for delivering the freebie automatically.
Basically it’s just an email that gets sent immediately when someone opts for your freebie.
To Create a list go to, Lists on the top and click Create List button.
Then you can create a name for your list like freebie_essentials_checklist.
Click on Show Autoresponders, next to the list you’ve created.
Next, click on create autoresponder to create your email autoresponder and paste the below email.
You can create an email that says:
Here’s your free download, Click here.
Click the link above to download your freebie.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Now you can set this email inside get-response and enable it for auto-delivery.
Now when you have successfully connected it you are done with this step.
Here’s how the final opt-in form looks like:
Step 4 - Embed Your Opt-In Form.
You are now ready to embed that opt-in form on your blog post.
This opt-in form will be used to collect details of your leads.
Once embedded here’s how it would look like.
Here’s how to embed it.
You need to grab the code once your opt-in form is created and paste it into the backend of your blog post.
Basically, you can copy and paste the code. I use Elementor so I can drag and drop the code widget to insert the opt-in form code, you can just copy and paste it where you want the form to be.
Finally you have your opt-in form that’s ready like the one I embedded below.
Step 5 - Places You Can Embed Your Opt-In Forms.
There are a few places you need to place your opt-in forms.
They are 2-3 times within your blog posts.
– One at the top section.
– Another at the bottom section.
– You can include one in the middle as well.
By embedding your opt-in form you can make sure that your reader will see that thrice and will opt-in while reading your blog posts.
Other places to embed your opt-in form are:
– The Sidebar.
– The Footer.
– The header.
– You can use a hello bar to entice readers to subscribe to your freebie offer.
In conclusion, the best way to convert your readers into email subscribers is by the use of content upgrade. It’s by the use of opt-in forms.
These forms are used to entice people to opt-in to grab that freebie.
So now whenever you create a blog post, use the concept of content upgrade and opt-in forms to convert your readers into subscribers.
