Most people start a blog but they don’t know how to monetize their blog. In this blog post I’m going to share with you the various monetization methods to help you understand how to monetize your blog.

Whenever someone starts a blog they are mostly focused on how they’re going to make money from their blogs. The general majority of the people just think they can only make money from Advertisements on their blog i.e Google Adsense.

That’s a crappy method I would say. Even though initially you’ll get a ton of traffic to your blog posts, you will annoy people by turning on Google Adsense on your blog.

But since some of you want that initial earnings from your blog, I’ll write a tutorial on how to create a google adsense account to monetize your blog. (Article Coming Soon).

There are plenty of ways to monetize your blog and business.

Below you’ll find links you can use for quick navigation to your favorite section.

Table of Contents

What You Need To Know About Blog Monetization.

Although everyone wants to quickly monetize their blog here is what you need to know before you can even think about monetizing your blog.

Your blog needs a readership (an audience that can trust you). If you’re just starting out you need to provide content of value to your audience.

Without valuable content, no one is going to come to your blog and read. So here’s what you need to do – Create new pieces of content for your audience and then share it with them wherever they hang out (Anywhere on Social Media).

Once you begin creating content, they will read it and if they like it, your audience will keep coming back for more content. Now you will have to ensure that your blog has valuable content for your audience. Then it will be the perfect time when you can turn on the various monetization methods.

Here’s what you need to know about monetization:

#1 – It won’t work if there’s no traffic coming to your blog. (You need consistent traffic from one or many sources everyday).

#2 – Your Income won’t be big when you’re starting out. (Smaller Monetization methods will work, we’ll discuss that later in this post).

#3 – Focusing on just monetizing from Adsense revenue will take you really a long time. (It takes a while to actually grow a blog’s traffic, pageviews and income).

So, the ultimate solution is to actually focus on quality content, getting consistent traffic, growing your email list and making sure that the traffic coming to your blog is actually passive (meaning even if you’re not pushing out content frequently, you’re getting the same amount of traffic).

Now you can think of monetization, because other methods of monetization happens behind the scenes of your blog. (Most of the magic happens in the back end – Big Revenue Is Earned In The Back).

I want you to click here to learn about the blog business framework model. (Article Coming Soon).

However, there are various monetization methods I’ve listed in this blog post that you can try to skyrocket your income.

Time It Takes To Actually Make An Income From Your Blog.

You must be wondering how long it actually takes to make an income from your blog.

If You’re Trying Google Adsense What Happens.

There are many answers to this question. Let’s say you decided to turn on Google Adsense for your blog and you have a few blog posts that’s bringing in traffic (meaning more people are finding your blog posts).

Your earnings or income will be calculated by multiplying your pageviews by the Google Ad’s Per thousand impressions. Since Google Adsense revenue pays less, you’ll not make much (if you’re starting a new blog).

But if you have a lot of pageviews then you can make a good income with it.

If You’re Trying To Monetize Using Your Email List What Happens.

Another way you can make quick income is if you have a huge email list, you can monetize them through a bunch of different ways like offering consulting sessions, group coaching, one-on-one coaching sessions, selling digital products, physical products, high-ticket programs and more.

Monetization would depend on an email list in this case. That’s why it’s important to build an email list for your blog business.

Basically your blog is just going to be a marketing and communication channel through which you reach your audience.

If You’re Trying Direct Content & Product Linking What Happens.

Another way you can make money from your blog is through direct content, product or service promotions. You’ll either directly write a blog post explaining your product or service, or create a video on YouTube.

Now this will directly targeted to the buyers of course. You’ll either promote that content to them and make sure they buy after consuming your content which explains that product or service.

So overall there are many ways to monetize but the time it takes to monetize will depend on pageviews (more traffic to your blog), more exposure to your current audience and new audiences, growing your email list, offering products and services on the backend with varied prices.

So How Soon Can You Monetize Your Blog?

So if you’re able to build trust, you can easily sell a high-ticket product (let’s say it’s a $1000 product) to even a list of 100 people. And some will buy your product right away. That’s how quickly you can make an income from your blog.

Basically, there’s no fixed time frame but I’ll tell you one thing, content is going to be the way you can grow your blog and your overall business. You need more exposure day by day to new people and they should be able to discover you. And overtime they will buy from you. It just takes time to build trust and then turn people into customers.

A major part of your business can be automated and so you’ll have time to grow it. We’ll cover automation’s in another blog post.

Click here to learn what all parts of your business can be automated. (Article Coming Soon).

How To Monetize Your Blog Using Google Adsense.

For those of you who don’t know what Google Adsense is, here’s a quick little info you need to know:

“Google AdSense is a program run by Google through which website publishers in the Google Network of content sites serve text, images, video, or interactive media advertisements that are targeted to the site content and audience. These advertisements are administered, sorted, and maintained by Google.” (Source: Wikipedia).

AdSense is a free, simple way to earn money by placing ads on your website.

Monetize Your Blog With Google Adsense

Here’s a quick video from Google Adsense Team telling you all about Google Adsense:

With Google Adsense you’ll be able to earn money just by placing Advertisements on your blog. So, your income will mainly depend on the traffic that’s coming to your blog.

If you have traffic in 1000’s or 10,000s+ you’ll be able to earn a decent revenue from your blog’s Ad sense program.

Most people who generally enable AdSense on their website, they earn somewhere between $10 to around $500 on average. But if the traffic on your blog and website is much more than 50,000 you can actually earn even more.

Ads when it’s targeted to the reader is always annoying, so I personally would not opt for this revenue stream. You’ll be earning very little for the work that you do.

However, if you enable Google Adsense on your YouTube Channel, then you could be earning a lot more. More info on it would be discussed on the YouTube Section on how to monetize your blog.

How To Monetize Your Blog Using Other Display Ad Networks.

Apart from Google Adsense, there are other Ad Networks out there too.

These Ad networks usually don’t accept people just like that. You need to meet a certain criteria like you should have ‘X’ pageviews, mention the high traffic blogs, etc

If you have a high traffic blog, then you’ll easily get approved to these Ad Networks.

Here are the Ad Networks:

  • Mediavine.
  • Media.net
  • Propeller Ads
  • Amazon Display Ads
  • Viglink
  • Skimlinks

There are many Ad networks out there. These are the best so far. I’ll be writing another blog on the list of Ad Networks that can be used on your blog. (Coming Soon).

Modern coaches and mentor prefer online coaching as it allows you to login to the session at one particular appointed time from any part of the world. And if you miss the session, you’ll always be able to get the recording.

Offering Group coaching can be a great testing point to test out your offers in your blog and business.

How To Monetize Your Blog Through Brand Sponsorships.

Brand Sponsorships is a great way to monetize your blog. Normally you see a lot of people on social media, especially Instagram and YouTube Influencers who often get brand collaborations happening frequently.

Basically, they are being paid by a brand to promote their products to the Influencers audience. And by doing so, the influencer gets paid a certain amount for taking about the product and asking their audience to purchase it.

Brand Sponsorships are great on social media as well as on your blog. If you’re into fashion, fitness or lifestyle niches, you’ll often be approached by brands who would want you to talk about their products in turn for some revenue.

The amount of money you’d be earning from a brand sponsorship would be less (intitally) but as your audience grows you can raise your rates.

Brands would want to know the amount of followers, readership, engagement on your platforms, and then decide if it’s worth choosing you as their brand promoter. Basically all they are looking for is to tap into the audience you have built.

You can choose whether you want to promote a certain brand or not. Some people charge atleast $1000 to a few $50,000 per post or promotion.

On social media, these brand influencers have different rates for story and feed posts.

There are many websites out there if you are looking to contact brands. They also have certain criteria before choosing people. You can search them on google and apply for the ones you like.

How To Monetize Your Blog Using Paid Promotions.

Paid promotions are actually different from brand promotions or sponsorships.

Paid promotions are where the company or brand is paying you to talk about their products and services on your blog, social media, etc and you are also allowed to use your affiliate links in order to earn a commission too.

The income for paid promotions are different. They can be fixed amount based on certain factors like your audience engagement rate, exposure you can get them, promotion time frame and other certain niche factors that are customized to the brand’s needs.

Paid promotions have different websites where you can directly contact brands. I can’t give you all the brand collaboration websites here because you will be having a blog in different niches. You’re job is to google search them and apply for them.

Then once you’re accepted, you can start promoting them. This is a great way to earn some money from your blog, social media, etc

How To Monetize Your Blog Selling Your Own Merchandise.

Another great way to monetize your blog is through selling your own merchandise. If you’re started a blog, you can create an e-commerce store and start listing your merchandise.

You can start selling t-shirts, caps, coffee mugs, designs, photographs, etc and anything else that’s possible in your niche.

This way you can monetize your blog. Introducing a merch section on your blog helps your brand, blog and business to be remembered.

Since these are physical products, and are of low price, people will often purchase it. It’s a great way to get more people to remember your business.

By them purchasing your merchandise you’re creating brand ambassadors. You’re advertising for free just through your t-shirts, mugs, posters, etc.

Getting a merchandise ready would incur some costs but atleast you’ll be able to start and get your merch out there for your audience to purchase.

The profit margins are pretty low, because there’s costs that go for shipping, packaging, refunds, etc.

But overall it’s a great to start a store and sell merchandise on your blog. It’s the best time to start a blog and monetize them with a good stock of merchandise.

You can think of various places you can outsource the raw materials and the production of them. Once they are produced, you can get them shipped into your home or somewhere you can store them.

Then you can create an e-commerce store on your website using the woo-commerce plugin or create a separate shopify store or list them on Amazon’s shop. Then you can send people to your store wherever they are.

If you actually take some time to watch videos on this topic, you’ll be able to figure out this problem. So overall, it’s a great strategy to monetize your blog.

Most people who start out don’t have this idea clicking in their mind. But you can keep this idea in the back of your mind. You can offer paid newsletter or paid content to your audience and create a recurring revenue stream altogether.

The content in the paid content subscription has to be of value to your audience. Setting it at a base price of $10/month would be a great start.

The difference is if you’re looking to make big income then you’ll have to get more people subscribed to this offer.

The income range from this monetization idea varies greatly on the number of people you’ve enrolled, the drop off rate (if you have), etc

Mostly you’ll need a platform like GetResponse and ConvertKit if you’re looking to pursue paid newsletter.

If you’re planning to pursue paid content, then you can use content locker plugins that can be found for WordPress and give access only to the people who’ve paid for it.

So, give this monetization idea a try once and see how you can boost your income in another way.

How To Monetize Your Blog Selling Physical Products On Your Website's Store.

Selling physical products on your website’s store like books, journals, t-shirts, DVD’s course books, etc is also another way to monetize your website’s store.

I don’t know your blog’s niche, but there are many bloggers out there who’ve capitalized on selling physical products in their own niches.

Now a days people have started selling digital products like printables, workbooks, cheat sheets, etc that can be easily designed on platforms like Canva and downloaded and edited to enable the customer to fill the forms fields wherever necessary.

Physical products even though they have some costs required to manufacture, ship, package, label, set up support, handling, etc

Despite all the startup and maintenence costs that it incurs you can get started if you have some funds left or can invest into making this possible.

Profit margins are low but you can maximize your customer’s purchase by upselling other similiar products or offering more at a discount.

In order to set up store, you can check out woocommerce and shopify, they have been the best ones out there.

Certain customizations would be required on your end but eventually you’ll be able to figure everything out.

In case you need experienced folks to help you with your store, you can always check back to Fiverr or Upwork to get things done. They have a bunch of qualified people who are willing to work for a reasonable fee and help get your business going.

Sponsored posts are mainly to monetize your audience with a product or service from a company or blogger. You’ll write a blog post which will live on your blog as long as you let it. And since your blog (as you grow) gets more and more readers the brand or blogger (or company) would monetize off of it.

This is a direct method of sending your blog traffic to a company’s audience.

As you get more exposure for these brands and companies, you’re getting them more mileage for their business. Now you can approach more and more people with your blog’s media kit and get paid to write about it.

Basically a sponsored post is an advertisement of sorts.

You can earn anywhere between $500 to over $1000+ per sponsored post.

If you’re doing other social media shares for them, you can monetize off it it.

There are a lot of factors that needs to be considered when applying to brands for a sponsored post. Usually your media kit and other blog audience demographics are taken into consideration.

Now you’ll set the rate and charge brands for the same. There are literally many brands and businesses out there for every niche possible.

Just take a look at other top influencers in your industry. Google search them if you don’t know where to start.

In fact, you can read how alexis does sponsored post here.

This is a surefire method on how to monetize your blog and get paid right away.
