Why You Should Create Forms In ActiveCampaign?

ActiveCampaign is one of the leading marketing automation tool which has email marketing function, that allows you build a long lasting relationship with your leads and customers. 

And WPForms allows you to connect ActiveCampaign with WordPress so that you can start creating and embedding your forms with great ease and convenience.

Since integrating forms is gonna be easier, let’s take a look at how’s its done.

ActiveCampaign Form Integration Steps.

First of all, you need to install and activate the WPForms plugin.

Here’s a step by step guide on how to install a WordPress plugin. (Coming Soon).

Now that you’ve installed the WPForms plugin, you’ll have to create a form.

Now when you’re creating a form, go ahead and choose the Newsletter Signup Form template.

It’s easy, when you go to Add New, you’ll be asked to choose a template.


Now, In order to create a high-converting ActiveCampaign form on your WordPress dashboard, you’ll need to install and activate the Zapier addon on your website.

This Zapier addon lets you connect the WPForms plugin to over 1,500+ web apps, including the ActiveCampaign app.

Now let’s take a look at how to connect WPForms to your ActiveCampaign account.

Log in to your Zapier account and click the Make a Zap button in the top navigation.

Choose the Newsletter Signup Form you just created earlier. After you’ve logged in, you need to go to the Edit Options step. You must have at least one test entry on your form before fetching existing entries.

This is kind of the rules regarding using Zapier.

Once you’ve done the needful, you should then see a successful confirmation message.

After choosing WPForms as your trigger app, the next step would be to choose ActiveCampaign as your action app.

So now when you select from the dropdown, you’ll see ActiveCampaign app using the search bar and choose that as the action app.

Then, you’ll be asked to select an ActiveCampaign action. 

Because our goal is to collect new subscribers automatically to your ActiveCampaign email list, let’s choose Create/Update Contact and then, click Continue.

Next, you’ll need to connect your ActiveCampaign account to Zapier. So, click Connect an Account.

In order for Zapier to allow access to your ActiveCampaign account, you’ll need to find API Url and API key that’s found in your ActiveCampaign account and enter them in the new window that pops up.


To find those keys, log into ActiveCampaign Account.

In the top right-hand corner, under your profile name, click My Settings, and then choose Developer in the left taskbar. (Refer Image below)

That’s where you find them.

Now copy them to the necessary fields.

After copying those keys to Zapier, click Yes, Continue.


Now you’ll be asked to set up ActiveCampaign contact. 

So in this step, you’ll need to connect each newsletter form field with what you just created with WPForms to the appropriate ActiveCampaign field. In this example, let’s choose the right list and configure the Email and First Name fields. Then we can proceed to the next step.

If you want to test whether the integration is working to send contacts to ActiveCampaign, click on Test.

To verify the data in your ActiveCampaign account, go back to your ActiveCampaign and click the Contacts tab. If the integration is working, you can see the test contact in your account.

Congratulations, you’ve just tested the ActiveCampaign app on Zapier successfully.

Now, in the final step, you’ll have to make sure to turn on your Zap. 

You can also give your Zap an appropriate name. Now by turning on Zap, you can automatically send contacts to your ActiveCampaign account whenever your visitors submit the form on your site.

That’s it! 

Now anytime a user fills out your form, they will be added as a new contact in your ActiveCampaign database along with other fields you’ve specified, so you can keep in touch with email marketing.
