Google has introduced a new tracking code system called the Global Site Tag (gtag.js) which is basically a tracking code that tracks and sends all of your marketing data to Google’s Marketing tools.
In this article, I’ll show you how to quickly install Google Analytics Global Site Tag (gtag.js) in your WordPress website.
How To Install MonsterInsights Plugin?
In order to install MonsterInsights plugin, you need to click here and download MonsterInsights plugin.
Then head over to Plugins > Add New and that’s where you click and Upload your plugin that you’ve downloaded.
Once you click on Install button it will begin to install it. Then you should click on Activate.
Then you can go ahead and connect it to your Google Analytics account.
All you need to do is either click on Connect with Google or you can add the Google Analytics Tag so that it links up with your account and starts tracking everything from it.
What's The Purpose Of Gtag?
Google’s new tracking code snippet, essentially (gtag.js), which is a tracking code that allows you to send data to each of their Google marketing tools. Meaning whatever website activity that happens (gtag.js) will be able to track it all and send the data over to the Google Marketing Tools. Earlier we could only see and track Google Analytics data only.
Now this Google Tag (gtag.js) would allow you to send data to all the other marketing tools that Google provides. This provides you an opportunity for better integrations and offers deeper insights about visitors and how they behave on your websites.
Here on now, Google will be using gtag.js to create new analytics features that going to be predominant in the future, MonsterInsights will be able to help you make Global Site Tag its default tracking code for all websites users who are new.

- Make sure that the Google Authentication is right.
- Make sure the tracking code for (gtag.js) is enabled.
