A loyalty rewards program is one component that’s going to increase the revenue of your WooCommerce store. A loyalty rewards program is like an incentive to the buyer to gain loyalty points into their loyalty rewards program that you can set up on your WooCommerce store. The customer can use these loyalty points when making another purchase.
WooCommerce however doesn’t have a special plugin, so the only option now would be to use a plugin that allows you to work with the loyalty rewards component on your WooCommerce store, it’s the Advanced Coupons Plugin. With this plugin you can offer your customers discounts, special offers, etc.
So in today’s post, I’ll explain all about how you can create a loyalty rewards program for your WooCommerce store and what all it requires.
How Loyalty Rewards Program Works.
For every brand, there are loyal customers who always choose them over the other competitors. You know what makes them come back to the same brand than running away to their competitors, it’s their trust in their brand because of the high-quality products and high-quality customer experience they experienced.
In simple terms, loyalty is like a repeat buyer. They come back to your store and buy from you. Because they keep buying from you, they are showing their loyalty, due to this a business will grow it’s bottom line revenue.
Now since these guys are building a brand loyalty, some brands introduce brand loyalty program where the customer can earn points to claim or unlock discounts, offers, deals when they make a purchase from their store.
So if you purchase something of X amount, you’ll be able to earn Y amount of loyalty points. And you can claim these inside your account or it will be credited to your account.
And next time when you make a purchase, you can use these points which can provide you some discount on the deals they have.
Essentially, the more you purchase, the greater you can earn your loyalty points from the store. So this encourages you to make repeat purchases so you can spend the loyalty points before the set date to redeem it.
This is how you can grow your business and increase the bottom line.
Benefit Of Loyalty Rewards Program.
Earlier I said that the biggest benefit of creating a loyalty rewards program for your WooCommerce store would be that your bottom line would increase, meaning it will result in more sales.
You still might be having about it and deciding if you should even consider implementing it or not.
So recently, there was a study conducted by Wirecard and the they were asked if they would consider purchasing from a store if they had loyalty points available, and to your surprise, they all said “yes”. About 75 percent of those participants said they would like to purchase again from that store just because they received an incentive by making a purchase from that store.
And about 86 percent had purchased at least one item from the store because the store had a loyalty rewards program. It’s almost like an incentive for purchasing something from the store that you can use again as a discount or price drop.
As you know by now that people shop from many different brands because they’re easily able to compare the prices and see what’s the best deal. So the only way you can ensure the customer shops from your store and stays in the long run would be through the loyalty rewards program.
This can change how you do business and win over your competitors.
So now did I not only convince you that you need to start a loyalty rewards program for your WoooCommerce store, but also mentioned how you can gain customers just by offering a loyalty rewards program over your competitors in the market.
How To Start A Loyalty Rewards Program On Your WooCommerce Store.
Like I mentioned in the introduction paragraph, that WooCommerce doesn’t have the facility or option to set up your loyalty rewards program but luckily for your Advanced Coupons plugin has.
There is this feature inside that will allow you to enable reward points for your customers when the take actions like making a purchase and earning those reward points so that they can use it on future purchases on your store.
So go ahead and install Advanced Coupons plugin and activate it, then follow along.
Step 1: Enable The Loyalty Program Option In The Settings.
First of all, I want you to head over to the backend of your WordPress website (backend of your store) and follow along.
On the left panel, click on WooCommerce and then click on Settings and select the Advanced Coupons tab and below that you should click on Modules.
The contents on that page will load, all you need to do is scroll down and you’ll be able to see the Loyalty Program option.
Refer to the image below.
Select the checkbox and enable it and click on Save Changes button.
Step 2: Define & Set The Price To Points Earned Ratio Value.
Now that you’ve activated loyalty program it’s time to make sure the settings for the loyalty program is right.
We need to define and set the points they can earn for a specific amount of price they spend on the store.
So on that same line, you’ll be able to see the Loyalty Program link. Click on it and you’ll see other options you need to fill.
(Refer to the image below if you need help).
After clicking the Loyalty Program link or tab you’ll be able to see the below things.
Your first job is to set the price to points earned ratio. What this means is that how many points a customer can earn if 1 dollar is spent.
This is how the customers can stack up points.
(Refer to the image below to follow along).
In the image above, we’ve entered that they will earn 20 points for every dollar that they spend. You can set your own number that you see fit for your WooCommerce store.
Step 3: Set The Points To Price Redeemed Ratio Value.
In the example above, the value is set at 100 which means that the customer can redeem 100 points (for every $1). Mostly as a discount.
I’m sure you’d like to see how these numbers work or translate to customer’s discount.
This is the formula you can use:
Discount (percentage the customer can earn) = ((1/points to price redeemed ratio value) X price to points earned ratio value) x 100
So in the images above we used, price to points ratio = 20, and points to price redeemed ratio = 100.
So as per the formula it is:
20% = ((1/100) * 20) * 100
You can choose the modify to help come up with the loyalty rewards percentage amount that the customers can claim while making the next purchase.
Step 4: Name The Points & Clearly Define The Earning Rules.
Our next step would be to complete the section below it.
Create a name in the Points name field.
Giving a Points name is going to help you solidify the whole thing
Below Points calculation options, you’ll see Discounts, Tax, Shipping and Fees. If you select any option from these, then the customer can use those points right at that spot.
You can choose to make sure the point apply at the right time on the checkout page.
Advanced Coupons plugin allows you to limit the roles in the backend.
Here’s an example from below that you can set in the backend of your store.
If you like you can set minimum thresholds for minimum points they have got to earn and minimum points that’s allowed for redemption. This ensures they have purchased things of greater price value, leading to more revenue for your business.
Example of one such thing is as below. (in the image).
As the example above, you can see that if they don’t earn 1000 points they’ve got the spend to earn those points. This causes them to spend on your store to earn those points for redemption later on.
Step 5: Customize Loyalty Rewards Program Messages And It's Expiration Period.
Before people make any purchase on your store, you should make sure to list how many points the customers can earn on ordering certain products on your store. Listing them will push them to purchase the higher value product.
Go to the backend and customize the following message.
Another thing you should customize is the expiration date. Also, please set the expiration period. This will tell the customers to make a purchase before their loyalty points expires its tenure.
Take a look at the image below and enter the value.
The last option is the Points expiry message, which tells the customers that their points are going to expire.
Step 6: Set The Specify Earning Action Settings.
Our final step is to set a list of actions that the customers have to take to start earning points.
Below is the settings that you should fix for your WooCommerce store:
Selecting Purchasing Products option will allow customers to earn those points after purchasing the products. (Refer Step 2 and Step 3).
Each and every setting that you enable you can specify the points the customer can earn.
In the example above, 10 points can be earned for doing those specific things.
You also have the option to grant your customers more points if they cross a certain threshold or breaking point.
Check the example below and you’ll find the customer can earn 60 points if they hit 200.
Likewise, you can click the + Add Row option and add more breakpoints and earned points.
