Did you know you can make a lot of money through Amazon Affiliate Marketing? In this blog post, I cover the strategies that you can use to make money as an Amazon Affiliate.
First, I’ll tell you what is Affiliate Marketing. Then we can discuss the strategies and steps you can use to make money as an affiliate marketer from Amazon.
By the way, Laura Iancu wrote an EBOOK: How to Make Money as an Amazon Affiliate which can help you learn more in-depth strategies on how you can make this work.
If you combine the information in her book with my strategies, you’ll be able to make a lot of money using Amazon Affiliates Program.
Let’s understand What is Affiliate Marketing so you can get started on the right foot.
What is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate Marketing is basically the process of promoting someone else’s products, programs or services in exchange for a commission. This is the easiest way that I can explain it to you.
Basically, you will have to sign up as an affiliate, under the program you choose to promote and then start promoting them.
And once you start making commissions you can start making good money.
That’s how generally how’s you can make money using affiliate marketing.[image]
Here we are looking to make money using Amazon’s Affiliate Program.
Steps to Start Making Money As An Amazon Affiliate:
The steps that I’ve mentioned below will help you get started on the right foot with Amazon.
Step 1: Start A Blog:
You can’t just grab affiliate links and directly promote them or drive traffic to it.
It won’t work, it’s straight up the truth!
It’s basic psychology that when you tell someone to click on a link they will ask you what it is and why they should do that in the first place.
It would look suspicious in their eyes, that’s why in order to make affiliate sales, you need to educate your readers.
The best way to educate your readers is by doing it on a blog.
You need to have a blog that created specifically to host all your content.
The most popular content management system out there is WordPress.
Start your WordPress Blog by creating an account using SiteGround for as little as $3 per month.
You can learn about more about that here.
Step 2: Sign up for Amazon Associates Program:
You have to open an account with an email address in Amazon Associates Program.
The above Amazon Affiliate Program is for Amazon.com (US Customers).
Likewise, if you are from another country you can try out your respective country’s Amazon Affiliate Program.
But remember there are only a few Amazon Associate Programs in the world.
But the general procedure would be to go to Amazon Associates Program.
Click “Join Now for Free” and create your Amazon Affiliate account.
Follow through the procedure and enter all the relevant information as you create your account.
Step 3: Pick your Niche:
After your account is created, you have to decide which niche you are going to delve into.
If you are into fashion or fitness you can choose to pick products from that niche and think about promoting them.
But my advice would be to actually serve your target audience.
This way you actually can speak to their needs and problems, then pick out products that will solve their problems and fulfill their needs.
Once you define your Ideal Avatar you’ll learn who they are, and how you can help them.
I learned about that more clearly from a book written by Ana – The She Approach to boost your blog traffic.
Although I learned what all you need to do to boost your blog traffic, I learned this one key thing about defining your target reader and speaking to their problems.
If you fail to define your target audience or reader, you won’t know clearly who you are speaking to.
You are my target reader because you are reading this. I have chosen to help you because I knew you were looking for this information on how to make money using Amazon Affiliate Program.
Basically, a niche is a category that you are going to focus more on and then find your ideal customers or readers.
Then reason out who they are and what they need.
Listing all their problems and pains and what help they need would help you actually do well when you choose affiliate programs in your niche.
Step 4: Make a list of right Affiliate Program:
After you’ve picked your niche, it’s time to pick out your affiliate programs that you are going to promote.
Before you start picking your products you have got to be careful if the products you pick are going to solve your ideal reader’s problems or help them.
After deciding that you can pick products from the Amazon’s best seller products.
These are the best products that have been performing well in terms of sales.
Go the Amazon’s Best Sellers.
You can pick and choose your category from the list on the left on that page.
Your choice of picking should be based on the following category.
- Product Ranking.
- Reviews on the product.
- 5-star rating.
- The price range of the product.
Usually, when you select a category, you will get the best seller ranking.
Top 50 in a particular category put together on one page.
But you also need to take into consideration the Amazon Affiliate Commissions rate Chart. It is the advertising fees they give you for bringing a customer to their site and making a purchase.
So I would suggest you pick a product based on the commission rates they are going to give you.
Don’t see these commission rates and feel that you cannot make big commissions.
There is a strategy that works for making big commissions. I’ll discuss that in the strategy section of this article.
For now pick the products you are going to receive good commissions, if not pick the ones that will suit the needs of your ideal audience.
After you’ve picked your products.
Start making a list of the products you are going to review.
Step 5: Content Creation:
We are going to write a review based article or casually mention the product in your posts.
You should casually mention about it at least thrice in your article. Talk about how that product is so good for their readers and how it can solve their problems.
Describe what products you are going to review in detail and write about both the positive as well as negative things you know of the products.
This would give people the chance to actually know about the product’s pros and cons.
Content Creation involves:
- Writing a detailed blog post.
- Include your affiliate links with images.
- Designing Social Media Posts.
- Creating a Video and Uploading it on YouTube.
All these content creation tips will serve you to bring in more traffic. And keep your audience engaged in the different products being reviewed by your content in different mediums or platforms.
All of these contents sources should be working to drive traffic to your blog or website.
Step 6: Traffic Generation:
Once you have got your content published on your blog, it’s time to drive traffic to your blog post.
You should know that unless you get a lot of traffic to your blog post.
Pick one solid source of traffic. Let’s take it with Pinterest now.
You can choose others sources of traffic too, but if you are beginner you should go with Pinterest.
If you’d like to learn how to drive insane traffic through Pinterest, I’ll write an article below.
Meanwhile, you can check out how to drive traffic through Pinterest from Making Pinterest Possible.
Your job is to make sure you make at least 4 to 5 pins per blog article and pin them to your boards.
Drive massive traffic from Groupboards and make sure you are pumping out more traffic from Pinterest.
You need to make sure for every visitor searching for those specific keywords, you are able to leverage more traffic (pin clicks) and re-pins to your blog.
You can also use tailwind to schedule your pins and start increasing the pinning strategy for maximum traffic push to your blog.
Step 7: Measure and Optimize:
Now that you are able to drive insane traffic you can begin to measure what’s happening with your blog articles.
Your quality check would be to make sure you have google analytics installed and they are being tracked on every page.
Now as you keep getting traffic, make sure your pins are showing up for the search phrases on Pinterest.
Next how much clicks are they getting should be tracked in your Pinterest analytics.
And make sure you have monster insights plugin installed on your WordPress website to see which articles are getting more shares and traffic.
Here is how you measure what’s working and what is not:
- Ensure you have written a quality content of over 1000 words.
- Make sure you have included your affiliate links in your articles.
- Make sure you are driving traffic from those 4 to 5 pins.
- Use tailwind for maximum effect on your Pinterest traffic.
Now track all your efforts from analytics.
Strategic Approach (Golden Nugget):
The strategy to actually make sure you make money using Amazon as an affiliate is as follows:
– Write Catchy headlines for your blog posts. This is to ensure clicks and deliver what the headline promises.
– Now your job is to make sure you are able to write about 50 articles in about 3 to 4 months time frame. (More than 1000 words each).
– Make sure you have high-quality graphics to make sure you are presenting the blog posts really well. (No one likes to read a blog post that has bad graphics. It would be a big turn-off.
– Make sure you are able to bring over 30,000 page views. (This will double your chances of income)
– Now here’s how the math would work out for your blog posts. Usually, if your blog posts get 100 visitors only less than 10% convert.
You have to be able to drive massive traffic to make over $1000 per month.
Let’s say your goal is to make a $1000 this month from your affiliate posts.
You first need to have a well-explained article with good graphics. Then work on traffic.
Your Traffic x 10%(Conversion Rate) would be the approximate amount you will earn for the product.
But Amazon has certain commission rates that you can get for each sale.
10,000 page views x 10% = $1000
Now after applying the advertising fees that Amazon pays you – that would be the commissions you can make for that particular product.
Usually, it’s less than $1000. But you cannot tell if the customer will go ahead and make other purchases on Amazon or the order would be returned.
That depends on how well you convince them about the product and then take them to Amazon.
MORE TRAFFIC = MORE INCOME.
If you can master the art of content creation at faster rates and bringing in insane amounts of traffic, you can learn how to make over $1000 per month.
