If you’re looking to create WPForms Surveys with your WordPress website we’ve got you covered. We’ll walk you through how to set it up and how you can publish it live so it’s ready to be sent to your customers and readers.
WPForms has a survey option which is great. The great thing is that you can easily view statistics and results from the information you collect from your forms. With surveys and polls feature, you can easily analyze data and generate reports, and even share results that can be helpful to the readers and customers.
In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to install and use the WPForms Surveys with your WordPress website.
Note: You will need a Pro license level or higher to access the Surveys and Polls addon. (Feature in WPForms Addons to enable Surveys).
Creating WPForms Surveys
First of all, before we begin to create surveys in WPForms you need to be sure to install the WPForms plugin on your WordPress site.
In order to install a plugin head over to Plugins option on the WordPress dashboard where you can see plugins on the left panel. Select Plugins > Add New.
This allows you to install and upload WPForms.
Next, you need to head over to WPForms > Addons where you’ll be able to see a list of addons.
Go ahead and find the Survey and Polls addon and install it.
Once the addon is installed and activated, survey and poll functionality can be enabled on any new or existing form. If you’d like to create a new form, the addon includes two templates: Survey Form and Poll Form.
Let’s create a customer satisfaction survey that we are doing for an example.
Now we need to create a new survey so let’s click on Add New.
Select the New Survey Form Template.
These templates by defaults have their own set of rows filled with questions, you can choose to remove or add them. WPForms allows you to customize your surveys based on your needs.
Once you’ve created your survey, you can save it.
You’ll also be able to take the embed code you find on the top and insert it anywhere on your website.
Using Reporting In Surveys
WPForms allows you to understand the data you get from the surveys you create on your WordPress website.
It’s called Survey Reporting.
Basically there are two types of reporting available for you to check: Survey Reporting and Poll Results.
Survey Reporting will collect all the field results, statistics, and data allowing you to display them in your own WordPress admin area (this is the data for your understanding and purposes), while Poll Results can be added to your site for your readers and customers to view.
So in your form, you have the option to enable Survey Reporting, Poll Results, or both.
Let’s tackle Survey Reporting options as we are interested in creating surveys on your WordPress website with WPForms only.
Here’s what you should do.
Enable Survey Reporting Form-Wide
The easiest way to quickly add survey functionality to a form is to enable it and it gets activated for the entire form.
To set up form-wide survey functionality, go to Settings > Surveys and Polls.
Enabling this will help you calculate survey results for all of the following field types that are available in WPForms:
- Single-Line Text
- Paragraph Text
- Multiple Choice
- Likert Scale
- Net Promoter Score
Next, you’ll have to check Enable Survey Reporting. Now that you’ve enabled it you can start to see all the survey reports on your WordPress Dashboard admin area.
In the Survey Form template, this option is already if you have selected this.
If you like to get reports for an individual field, you can do the following:
Enable Survey Reporting for Individual Fields
This can be a bit advanced but you can still do it.
Sometimes when you create certain forms, you may not need to calculate results form-wide. For such instances, you can enable survey functionality for individual fields in your form settings.
First, form-wide survey functionality must be disabled. To do this, go to Settings> Surveys and Polls and make sure that Enable Survey Reporting is unchecked. This completely disabled that feature from working across the form.
Next, click Fields to land on the main form builder screen. Within the preview area, you need to click the field to open its Field Options panel. Under Advanced Options, you’ll have to check the box for Enable Survey Reporting.
Take a look at how it should be done.
If you’d like to create individual reporting you can do it for those specific fields you most need the information for the reportings.
This covered the complete tutorial on how to use WPForms surveys with your WordPress website.
We covered how to install and active the surveys and polls addons. Then created the survey and also tracked down the reporting feature to show them in our admin area.
Data is the key to making better decisions and that’s why the reporting feature is helpful.
